Ri-Bhoi, Meghalaya – August 1, 2024: In a significant step towards fostering agricultural growth and community development,
the ICAR Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Ri-Bhoi, organized a day-long "Awareness cum Workshop on MY Bharat (MoYA)" on August 1, 2024. The event is a part of the broader 100-day
action plan initiated by the Ministry of Youth Affairs (MoYA) under the MY Bharat (Mera Yuva Bharat) scheme, which aims to empower and educate the rural population.
The workshop was attended by 45 farmers representing 22 villages of the Ri-Bhoi district, Meghalaya. These farmers, who form the backbone
of the region's agrarian economy, were provided with crucial information on the latest agricultural practices, government schemes, and sustainable farming techniques. The event aimed to bridge
the gap between traditional farming methods and modern agricultural practices, ensuring that the local farming community is well-equipped to face contemporary challenges.
The programme featured expert-led sessions on topics such as integrated pest management, soil health improvement, water conservation strategies,
processing and value addition and Artificial Insemination. Demonstrations were conducted to showcase the practical application of these techniques, enabling farmers to witness firsthand the benefits
of adopting these methods in their fields.
In addition to technical knowledge, the workshop also highlighted various government schemes and subsidies available to farmers under the MY Bharat initiative.
This information is crucial in helping farmers access resources and support that can enhance their productivity and income.
The event concluded with an open discussion session, where farmers shared their experiences, concerns, and suggestions with the experts from KVK Ri-bhoi. This
interactive platform allowed for a two-way exchange of ideas, ensuring that the workshop addressed the specific needs and challenges faced by the farmers of Ri-Bhoi.
Through initiatives like these, KVK Ri-Bhoi continues to play a vital role in empowering the rural community, promoting sustainable agriculture, and enhancing the
overall development of the region. The success of this workshop is a testament to the importance of collaborative efforts in achieving agricultural progress and community well-being.
